Year 6 Ash and Oak 2020

Welcome to Year 6 Ash and Oak Classes.  We are taught by Mrs Parker, Mrs Taylor, Miss Kuczaj, Mrs Barton and Mrs Billing.

Our topic this term is Maafa.

This project teaches children about Africa past and present and the development of the slave trade. It also explores Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, the causes and consequences of the European colonisation of Africa and the worldwide communities that make up the African diaspora.

Knowledge organiser and home learning ideas:

Our class novel to match this topic is 'Sky Hawk' by Gill Lewis.

The link below will take you to our 'Video Resource Centre'. Here you will find the videos for how to log in to spelling shed and Lexia, and submit an assignment on Google Classroom. I hope this helps.

Learning at Home

If you are self isolating and can't come into school you can still keep learning at home.

Oak Academy offers daily lessons in lots of curriculum areas. Click on the Year 6 lessons first, but it's also fine to check out some of the younger year group if you just want to revise or consolidate your prior learning.

White Rose Maths is closely linked to our maths lessons in class and includes teaching and work to complete on line.

Don't forget TTRS too - it makes practising your  times tables fun!

Finally, read, read, read! We've include the link to Oxford Owl where you will find some great books to read on line.
