In 2013 the Government started extra funding for schools under the name of Sports Premium. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. Funding will be funded through a lump sum for each school and a top up per pupil.
Funding for 2019 to 2020
Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive £1,000 per pupil.
Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
Our plans include widening the range of sporting opportunities both in lessons and through after school clubs, to pay for specialist coaches and to improve the quality of the equipment we have in school. See our action plan below for more details of how we plan to spend the funding.
