British Values

At Gamesley Primary School, we promote the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs. This ensures young people understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain.

What is respect?

Respect means thinking about other people and their feelings. We can show respect in many ways, through how we act and in
what we say.  We can show respect in many ways, through how we act and in what we say.

Sesame Street: Respect | Word on the Street

The word on the street this week is respect: treating people the way you want to be treated.

What is individual liberty?

Individual liberty means we have the freedom to do the things we want to as long as we don’t hurt anyone else or damage anything linked to the rule of law.  So freedom doesn’t mean that we are free to do whatever we want, it means that we are free to do what’s right.
